Starting out using technical foam in your products

If you’re developing a new product that requires technical foam for the first time, it can be difficult to choose the best company to help you produce it. If you have no in-depth knowledge of the foam industry, you’ll need to work closely with your chosen foam manufacturer. Here are some things to look for when you do.
Firstly, look for a company that strives to be at the forefront of new technologies and new techniques. This isn’t just a benefit to them – they will be passing on the benefits to you, such as faster turnaround times and products that can be cheaper to produce.

Be open with your chosen company on what you require. Their mould must fit your product, rather than compromising your product to fit the machinery they have available to cut foam to size. Any good company will even build or tool a new mould or machine to help produce your product if that is required.
Look for a company that has good business connections with other suppliers – good working relationships can speak volumes about how well regarded a company is within its own industry. If they are popular with their peers, it will be a good sign.

Finally, choose a company that puts you and your product at the centre of control and ideas – any good foam company will strive to make your product without compromise or cutting costs. To get what you want, when you want, is the key to a successful product business.
