Ford, the American auto major has a reasonably strong presence in India, thanks to its best selling cars like the EcoSport, Figo and Endeavour among others. Ford cars are known for their superior ride quality, ease of handling as well as many first in class features. A company that believes in regular updating of technology and features, Ford never backs out from giving an improved, face-lifted version of its cars whenever that becomes a necessity. It helps the company to deliver cars that are better in features, technology, ride and comfort.
One of the Ford cars that underwent a facelift recently is the Fiesta. This stylish sedan is a prominent player in India’s highly competitive sedan segment. The revamped Fiesta has looks to kill and it appeals to the eye almost instantaneously. The New Ford Fiesta is the sixth gen version of this global car. It is the first time since its introduction in India in 2011 that the Fiesta has undergone a facelift.
What makes Fiesta special is the fact that it is one of the bestseller cars across the globe. In India, it is sold as a five-door car, and it comes with some attractive features, especially when it comes to connectivity on the go.
On the exterior, the car looks extremely stylish and fresh in its new Aston Martin inspired hexagonal grille at the front. The colors are also highly attractive and it gives the car a fresh and clean look. The small air dams, fog lamps neatly placed at the edges, sleek, laser cut wraparound headlamps, all add to the elegance of this car.
The 2014 Ford Fiesta is available only with a diesel engine. Moreover, Ford has chosen to go with the same engine that did duty on the previous editions. Hence, the new Fiesta will run on the same 1498cc, 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, eight valve, in-line SOHC TDCi DuraTorq diesel engine, which is capable of churning up a top power of 90 bhp and a peak torque of 204 Nm. The car will come with a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. Although the engine is the same as in the previous edition, it has been fine-tuned on the new Fiesta. As a result, the car returns an improved fuel economy of 25 kmpl.
Safety features included in the 2014 Fiesta include ABS with EBD, energy absorbing bumpers, crumple zones, and door reinforcements among others. It also offers other safety measures like central locking, remote programmable key entry with greeting lamps, child lock, engine immobilizer and many more.
The main competitors of the 2014 Fiesta are Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and Nissan Sunny. However, priced at 7.87 to 9.44 lakh rupees, the Fiesta is a good bargain.
