Make Your Home Suitable for a Puppy

Many people who own a dog have done so since their dog was a puppy. They have, therefore, known their dog its whole life, from when they were first born onwards. This creates a very special connection between owner and dog.

Perhaps you’ve decided that you want to own a puppy. There are a few things to consider, including making sure your home is suitable for a young dog.
It’s important to note a couple of things about your puppy. Firstly, puppies have no discipline and so it’s no good trusting their common sense, secondly, puppies are
very vulnerable, they are just like babies and will come to great harm if they’re not protected.

So, the most important thing you can do is to remove dangerous things from your home. There are lots of substances, food and plants that are toxic for dogs, everything from tomatoes to household cleaning products. Remember, warning signs on labels mean nothing to dogs of any age.

As well as harmful substances there might be many harmful objects in your home. Some objects are obviously dangerous whilst other’s less so. For example, there might be lots of choking hazards around your home, from loose ribbons to the draw string on window blinds.

Often you’ll find that many things dangerous for babies are also dangerous to pets, so this mind-set can be useful. You can also look online for lots more pet care tips.
